033 There is no try
ByWhen passion fills our hearts we courageously risk it all. We stand on stages declaring our beliefs. We create art with uninhibited truths. We transform silence into resilience. And when that passion is released, we build connections across miles and smiles. Seth Godin’s newest book The Icarus Deception takes a fiery look at exactly what it takes to courageously fly our passion closer to the sun in an economy built on connectivity.
The old adage… If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it is yours. If it doesn’t, it never was … is a key lesson in trusting our passion and art. When our art, our words, our vulnerability is shared with others and is reciprocated in applause, ticket sales and fond embraces we build trusting relationships in mutuality. We create a force strong enough to transform resistance to persistence, challenge into change, reaction to creation and a fairy tale into our true story. These connections and vibrancy make us stronger, fuller, lighter, richer and letting go becomes the ultimate act of love.
Ray Bradbury says stay away from analysis paralysis. “Don’t think,” he says. “Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.” Yoda says, “Do, or do not. There is no try.” But there must be love in a these commitments. The results will otherwise become short lived and without lasting meaning.
