074 The Intuitive Art of Letting Go
ByFor almost two years, a very simple writing exercise has helped me excavate my hidden truths, clarify my wants, increase my patience and listen intently to my inner voice rather than the distractions abound.
This exercise is VERY simple. If it takes more than 10 minutes of UFTAE (Uninterrupted Focused Time And Attention) then stop over thinking it and just write the first thing that comes to mind….even if it’s jibberish. My advise is to pick a specific time each day and use a single journal. Complete the sentence provided below in long hand. Write the full sentence at least twelve times. Now don’t simply write the first part once then answer it 12 ways right below. By writing the ENTIRE sentence you are giving yourself enough time to process what to express next.
Week 6 February 27 –
Intuition. We are born with innate cry and yearning for our mother’s milk. We find empathetic comfort in the warm touch of our father’s hand. By the age of two we are creating stories, characters and events with our imagination and intuitive thoughts. Once we enter grade school however, we are bombarded with the practical, logical world and soon our intuition drowns in a sea of multiplication tables, spelling bees and social studies tests. For those who study the arts (music, theater, dance and visual arts) intuition has a light to be resurrected. Through imagination we learn to once again acquire and use inner knowledge and feelings without use of reason and it manifests in art.
Here’s your writing prompt for the day…
If I listened to my intuition more I would let go of __________
